Pu’ Er is the home of tea. It is here, in Yunnan Province, China, that tea was invented. The least well-known type of tea takes its name from the town

To make Pu’ Er the leaves are encouraged to ferment underground, or in a cave. This process helps develop the distinctive flavour and aroma. It is also why, like fine wine, Pu’ Er improves with age.

Widely used to manage weight and cholesterol, the benefit as a digestive aid means Pu’ Er is especially satisfying when drunk with a meal.

From a height of 1300 metres above Pu’ Erh City comes this sheng cha (Raw Tea) in the picture.

The leaf was hand-picked in 2013. It comes from selected small trees in the Pasha Mountain. Small trees are renowned for producing a distinct, sweeter taste.
